Lewis Mills tops Maloney in double OT

Connor Evans had a team-high 24 points in Tuesday night’s double overtime win over Maloney.

MERIDEN, Jan. 24, 2023 – Connor Evans had a team-high 24 points and pulled down 20 rebounds to help the Lewis Mills boys basketball beat Maloney in double overtime Tuesday night, 78-70 in Central Connecticut Conference South action.

Maloney (5-7) had a shot at the buzzer at the regulation to win the game but it missed. Mills had a shot to win at the end of the first overtime but couldn’t convert.

Lewis Mills (10-2, 1-1 CCC South) outdueled Maloney in the second OT to secure the victory. Connor McAtee had 19 points for Mills while Eli Pelletier added 14 points. Mills was missing starting guard Jon Schibi, who was ill. It was the second OT win of the season for Mills, who beat Suffield by two in overtime in the first round of Litchfield Hills Classic in late December.

The Spartans return to action on Friday night when they travel to Berlin (3-8, 1-2) to face the Redcoats at Gibney Gymnasium in another CCC South contest.
