Canton dominates Rockville to advance in NCCC Tournament

VERNON, Feb. 15, 2023 – Sophia Mates scored a game-high 18 points and Avery Brown added 14 points as the Canton High girls basketball beat Rockville in the first round of the NCCC Tournament Wednesday, 45-19.

No. 9 seeded Canton advances to Friday’s quarterfinals where they will face league champion and top seed Bolton (19-1, 12-0 NCCC).

Rockville’s 19 points was the second-fewest allowed by the Warriors in a game this season. Canton (10-11) allowed nine points in a 46-9 win over Litchfield on opening night.
