Canton hits three home runs in big win over Windsor Locks

Three players hit home runs as the Canton High girls softball team rolled to a 18-5 win over host Windsor Locks in five innings on Monday in North Central Connecticut Conference play.

The Warriors (3-2) had 16 hits in the game including seven extra-base hits. Erin Mackin, Lyla O;Connor and Alexia Moore each hit home runs for the Warriors while Joy Shand, Mackin and Alice Butterfield had triples.

Mackin was 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI thanks to her home run and triple. Shand, O’Connor and Butterfield each had three hits. O’Connor was 3-for-4 with three RBI while Buttersfield was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Shand was 3-for-5 with three RBI.

On the mound, Butterfield picked up the victory by striking out 11 and allowing six hits. She walked two.

Canton returns to action on Wednesday when they host Suffield at 11 a.m. at the high school.
