WEST HARTFORD, April 25, 2023 – Pitcher Alice Butterfield struck out 11 and allowed just two hits as the Canton High girls softball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 12-0 win over Northwest Catholic in five innings on Tuesday in a non-league contest in West Hartford.
Canton (5-4) led 3-0 after four innings before exploding for nine runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding lead. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Second baseman Erin Mackin and catcher Joy Shand were each 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. Center fielder Joelle Daigneault had two hits and drove in a run for the Warriors with Sophia Mazza also ripping a double.
