Canton’s Beadle hits for the cycle in big win over Public Safety

CANTON, May 17 – Sam Beadle had a day to remember Tuesday at Bowdoin Field.

The junior catcher hit for the cycle in an 18-0 win over Public Safety Academy of Enfield, going 4-for-4 with four RBI and a single, double, triple and home run.

The Warriors had 15 hits in the victory including four home runs and improved to 10-8 on the year. Canton pitcher Brandon Peters (2-0) allowed just two hits and struck out 12.

Beadle had a RBI triple in the first inning and was hit by a pitch in his second at bat in the third inning. In the fourth inning, Beadle led off the inning with a single to center field. In the fifth inning, he had a two-RBI double to center field and in the sixth inning, he had a solo home run to left field.

Beadle’s home run in the sixth was the third consecutive home run in the inning. Trey Van deBogart and Jake Schaetzel hit back-to-back home runs to center field before Beadle came to the plate – needed a home run to complete the cycle.

Ethan Burke was 3-for-4 with two RBI for Canton while Nate Fulham was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Van deBogart had two hits on the afternoon. Public Safety Academy, a CREC magnet school out of Enfield, slipped to 9-9 on the season.

Canton has Senior Day on Wednesday when they host Somers at 4 p.m. in the final regular season game of the season at Bowdoin Field. The Warriors conclude the regular season at Litchfield on Thursday at 4 p.m.
