Maine’s Logan Thompson, a four-time Class C – the small school division – state champion, won the New England tournament with a 68, beating Xavier’s Chris Fosdick, the Connecticut State Open champion, by one stroke. Thompson had six birdies to win the championship.
Hanratty was the third golfer from Connecticut behind Fosdick (69) and Coginchaug’s Tyler Woodward, who shot a 71.
A year ago, Tyler Hahn shot a 69 to finish in a three-way for second place in this tournament.
The girls tournament was won by Jordan Laplume of Thorton Academy in Maine with a 73 and a one stroke victory. She will go to Merrimack this fall.
The Maine golfers stayed sharp throughout the spring. Maine’s high school golf season is in the fall.
