TORRINGTON, Aug. 14, 2022 – Miles Scribner pitched eight strong innings and allowed just two earned runs as defending champion Tri-Town took a 1-0 lead in the Tri-State League championship series with a 10-2 win over Bethlehem Plowboys Sunday night at Fuessenich Park.
Game two in the best-of-three series will be Monday night at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury with the Trojans looking for their second straight league championship and the fourth pennant in team history.
Tri-Town (21-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Danny McCarty and a RBI single from Austin Patenaude.
The Plowboys (16-7) cut the lead in half on a RBI single from Jarett Williams but the Trojans scored six times in the sixth inning to take a commanding 10-1 lead.
Willie Yahn had a two-run single, Jeb McNallis had an RBI double while Casey McDonald chipped in with a RBI single.
This is the first appearance in the finals for the Plowboys since 2010.
