For just the third time in league history, the Simsbury Sabercats won the regular season title in the Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League. The Sabercats finished with a franchise-record 17-4 with 55 points, just edging out Bridgeport, who was 17-3 with 54 points.
The league playoffs begin on Tuesday with Simsbury and Bridgeport among four teams receiving a bye into the double-elimination portion of the league tournament.
The last time Simsbury earned a No. 1 seed was in 2021 when the Sabercats were 17-5. West Haven is the defending CCBL champion and is seeded seventh.
