AVON – The Avon High football team participated in its first scrimmage on Wednesday night, hosting Watertown at the high school. The two teams scrimmaged for about an hour before thunder and rain cut the event short. Dozens of parents and some students watched the scrimmage from the parking lot that overlooks the practice fields.

Avon will participate in the second of its two scrimmages on Thursday, Sept. 4, when they travel to Newington.

The Falcons open their 55th varsity campaign and final season in the Pequot Conference on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they host Ellington/Somers at 1:30 p.m. Avon was 8-3 a year ago.
