The Hartford Yard Goats fell to the Reading Fightin Phils 5-3 on Wednesday night at Dunkin’ Park. The game was tied 3-3 through seven innings but the Fightin Phils scored two runs on a pair of RBI-hits from Carson DeMartini and Aroon Escobar in the top of the eighth to take a 5-3 lead. The Yard Goats trailed 5-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth and brought the potential tying run to the plate but could not capitalize as the loss snapped Hartford’s four-game winning streak. Yard Goats starter Bryson Hammer allowed just one run on two hits while striking out five in five innings. Andy Perez had two hits and leads the Eastern League with a franchise-record 144 this season.

A goal from Barry Coffey in stoppage time lifted the Hartford Athletic to a 2-1 USL Championship win over the Charleston Battery on Wednesday in Mount Pleasant, S.C. In the 97th minute, a free kick for Hartford went to Coffey, who headed the ball into the net for the game-winning goal over the Battery (12-8-3), who came into the game second in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference. Hartford (7-5-9) won their fourth straight game and third straight USL Championship contest. With the win, the Athletic moved into sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Charleston took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute as a nifty set play off of a corner kick resulted in a wide-open shot for Kirill Pakhomov. Hartford’s Michee Ngalina scored on a penalty kick in the 75th minute to tie the game at 1-1. With his six-save win, Hartford goalie Antony Siaha surpassed the 350-career saves plateau in USL Championship regular season action, becoming just the 12th goalkeeper all-time to do so. The win ended Charleston’s 24-match unbeaten streak at home. Hartford returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Detroit City on Saturday for a 7 p.m. start.

The Yard Goats trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh but scored three runs on RBI-hits from Andy Perez, Jared Thomas and Zach Kokoska to take a 5-3 lead. Yard Goats relievers Victor Juarez and Austin Smith retired the last nine batters in order to give Hartford their fourth straight win.

Hartford pitcher Stu Flesland III fired six scoreless innings, and was backed by six runs, as the Hartford Yard Goats beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Flesland got help from double plays in each of the first three innings and went on to retired eight of the final nine batters faced over six shutout innings to record his fourth win. Dyan Jorge became the first ever Yard Goats player to steal 50 bases when he swiped second base in the seventh inning. He also extended his hit-streak to eight consecutive games. Jared Thomas cranked a two-run homer and Jacob Humphrey added two hits as Hartford won the series taking four of six games. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin’ Park for the final homestand of the regular season on Tuesday night (6:30 PM) against the Reading Fightin Phils.

Konner Eaton pitched six innings allowing just two runs and earned his fifth win, while Andy Perez cracked a go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie and help the Yard Goats down the Fisher Cats for the second straight game. Jacob Humphrey had three hits, including a double and drove in two runs, Jimmy Obertop had two hits and drove in two runs, and Jack O’Dowd smashed a solo home run. Dyan Jorge extended his hit-streak to seven consecutive games. The Yard Goats conclude the road trip on Sunday and return to Dunkin’ Park on Tuesday to host the Reading Fightin Phils.

The Hartford Athletic erased an early two-goal deficit to beat the Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday night at Trinity Health Stadium, 3-2 in USL Championship action. Goals from Barry Coffey, Michee Ngalina and captain Jordan Scarlett helped Hartford (6-5-9) secure the win. Two quick goals from Birmingham’s Romario Williams in the 21st and 39th minute gave the Legion (3-9-8) visiting side a commanding 2-0 lead. Hartford’s Sebastian Anderson found Coffey in the box in the 41st minute to cut the lead in half. Ngalina would strike in stoppage time, tying the match, 2-2, heading into halftime. Scarlett got the game-winner in the 74th minute off an incredible run and assist from Anderson. Hartford hits the road to South Carolina for a USL Championship match with Charleston Battery on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.

The Hartford Yard Goats defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8-4 on Friday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Jack O’Dowd broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning with a two-run double, and Zach Kokoska followed with an RBI double helping the Yard Goats defeat the Fisher Cats for the second time in four games. Sam Weatherly tossed a scoreless inning in relief to get the win. The bullpen of Weatherly, Nathan Blasick and Fidel Ulloa fired four scoreless innings. Roynier Hernandez had three hits, two RBI and scored two runs, Cole Messina had three hits, including a double and RBI, and Zach Kokoska had two hits and reached base four times.

Aaron Parker hit a two-run homer and Dub Gleed had three hits leading the Fisher Cats to their second straight win against Hartford. Dyan Jorge had an RBI single to extend hit hit-streak to five consecutive games for the Yard Goats, and Jacob Humphrey had a single to extend his hit-streak to four consecutive games. The Yard Goats bullpen of Davis Palermo and Austin Smith fired 5.1 scoreless innings. The Fisher Cats scored three runs in the first inning against Yard Goats starter Bryson Hammer. Eric Snow led off with a double and scored on a throwing error to make it 1-0. Later in the inning, Aaron Parker cranked a two-run homer to make it 3-0.

Eric Snow and Mathieu Valley hit back-to-back doubles, helping prevent the Yard Goats from securing consecutive wins. Jacob Humphrey had two hits for the Yard Goats. Victory Juarez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief and Hunter Mann fired a scoreless seventh inning. However, Eric Snow cracked a two-out double in the eighth inning and Mathieu Valley followed with a double to left field, scoring Snow and giving New Hampshire a 5-4 lead.

Yard Goats reliever Fisher Jameson retired nine of ten batters faced in three scoreless innings to earn the victory. Andy Perez and Jacob Humphrey each had three hits as the Yard Goats snapped a three-game losing streak. The Yard Goats scored two runs in the second inning against Fisher Cats starter Austin Cates. Jared Thomas led off with a single and then Hartford loaded the bases as Braylen Wimmer and Jack O’Dowd each got hit by pitches. Dyan Jorge followed with a single, and Thomas scored, giving the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead. The Yard Goats made it 2-0 on a sacrifice fly by Roynier Hernandez in his Hartford debut. Leading 3-2, Hartford added two runs in the eighth inning with the big hit coming on an RBI double by Cole Messina, and three more in the ninth with Dyan Jorge coming up with a two-run single. Yard Goats reliever Fisher Jameson was outstanding and fired three scoreless innings. He retired nine of ten batters faced from the fifth through seventh innings and had four strikeouts. Hunter Mann and Carlos Torres followed with two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth.
