SANTA CLARA, Calif, June 3 – In the final tuneup race before the U.S. Olympic swimming trials later this month, Avon native Madison Kennedy finished second in the 50 freestyle and sixth in the 100 freestyle at the Santa Clark International Grand Prix.
With a time of 25.05 seconds, Kennedy was second in the 50 free behind 16-year-old Yolane Kukla of Australia (24.97). Australian Libby Trickett was third in 25.22. Kennedy was sixth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.39. She was the third American in that race. The U.S. Olympic trials are June 25 through July 2 in Omaha, Nebraska. Kennedy, 24, was ninth in the 50 free and 13th in the 100 free at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials.
