NEW BRITAIN, Sept. 22 – Sophomore Ned Furtney was the No. 2 runner for the Bentley University men’s cross country team on Saturday at Central Connecticut State University’s Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park. Furtney finished the 8,000 meter race in 26:42.56, good enough for 59th place in the field of 94 runners. Furtney is a 2011 graduate of Canton High.
Northeastern won the meet with 43 points followed by UConn with 58 points. The next meet for Bentley is the New England Division II championships on Oct. 7 in Westfield, Mass.
Senior John Drago of Avon is one of two co-captains this season for Bentley, who were ranked No. 3 in the East for Division II schools and 32nd nationally in preseason poll. Drago did not run in the Ted Owen Invitational.
