Granby (1-2) is looking for its second win of the year in Falls Village Friday night against Housatonic/Wamogo. On Saturday, Avon (4-0) is challenged by Gilbert/Northwestern at home while Canton (2-2) looks to get back on the winning track when they host Enfield. Simsbury (3-1) at Windsor (3-0), 7 p.m. Simsbury will need to control the game by keeping the ball with its triple option veer offense against a high-flying Windsor attack led by QB Robert Fleeting, the coach’s son, who has thrown 8 TD passes and rushed for a team-high 265 yards and another 4 TDs. Windsor has outscored its first three opponents by a 132-7 margin. Rashad Ramsey is the leading receiver with 11 receptions for 251 yards and 2 TDs. QB Steven Steijn is the leader for the Trojans and the one who needs to make the correct reads on to run with the ball, hand it off, pitch it to a teammate or throw it. Last week in a 41-12 rout of winless South Windsor, Christian Martinez ran for 2 TDs while Blair Zentek scored a pair of TDs on a 62-yard punt return and a 34-yard TD reception from Steijn. This will be a big challenge for Simsbury, which will return to CCC Division I West play the following week with three straight league games against Hall, New Britain and Southington. Series: Began 1969. Simsbury leads 24-10

Farmington (4-0) at Fermi-Enfield (0-4), 7 p.m. Farmington QB Kenny Jones ran for 194 yards and 2 TDs a week ago in a 29-12 win over RHAM. He also threw a six-yard TD pass to Anthony Carpenter as the Farmington offense continues to pick up steam. It’s the final tuneup game before the Indians return to CCC Division II West Division play with consecutive games against Bristol Eastern, Windsor and Middletown that will determine the league title and Farmington’s post-season title hopes. Fermi is having a tough time scoring (20 points) and is led in rushing by freshman Tim Callahan with 203 yards and 3 TDs. Series: Began 1971. Fermi leads 6-5-1

Granby (1-2, 1-2 Pequot Uncas) at Housatonic/Wamogo (0-3, 0-3 Pequot Uncas), 7 p.m.  Granby is looking for it second win against a young Housatonic team that is struggling to learn the nuances of the single wing formation. In the past two games, QB Curtis Field has run for a pair of TDs and thrown a TD pass. Stephen Blake (49-176) is the team’s leading rusher with Ian Downey (10-103) the leading receiver. Avon helmet 2012Gilbert/Northwestern (2-2, 2-2 Pequot Uncas) at Avon (4-0, 4-0), 1 p.m. Rivalries don’t really blossom until teams begin beating each other. In the last two years, Gilbert has beaten Avon twice. In 2010, a 7-0 win in the final game of the regular season kept Avon out of the CIAC playoffs and propelled Gilbert into the post-season. Last year, Gilbert won, 20-10 in a hard-fought game in Winsted. The Yellowjackets are quick led by running back Tony Ortiz and they also have a veteran QB in John Lippincott, who threw a pair of TD passes in last week’s 35-0 win over SMSA/University. Turnovers have hurt Gilbert this year. Avon has been trying to establish its passing game and it stumbled in last week’s 28-6 win over Canton. But the Falcons have been moving forward on the running of Colin Moore with three 200-plus rushing games in four outings and its defense. “They’ll be more than ready for us,” Gilbert coach Scott Salius said. “It will be a big chess match between the coaches and a slugfest on the field. It will be the team that plays harder that will come out on top. If we want to have a great season, we have to go through them. They know if they want to have a huge season they have to come through us.” Series: Began 1960. Avon leads, 18-12

Enfield (3-1, 3-1 Pequot Uncas) at Canton (2-2, 2-2), 1 p.m. Canton looks to get back on the winning track when they host the Raiders on Saturday. For Enfield, RB Nick Bevilacqua and Avery Boissy, who had four TDs, including a 75-yard kickoff return against Windsor Locks, have good speed. QB Kyle Maynard threw 2 TD passes against Locks. Enfield can score with 34 points against Granby and 42 over Stafford. The Raiders did lose to Gilbert in week 2. Canton will need to control the ball with its running game (Kyle Mullins, Jesse LaChance, Dan Delos) and eliminate turnovers. Discipline on defense will be crucial too for the Warriors. Series: Began 2009. Enfield leads, 3-0

Haddam-Killingworth (1-3, 1-3 Pequot Sassacus) at Lewis Mills (0-3, 0-3), 2 p.m., Muzzy Field, Bristol: The Spartans are still trying to get their offense on track. Mills has rushed for just 95 yards in three games, which has hurt its offensive production. Thomas Krysar (8-67) is the team’s leading receiver. Mills has thrown for over 200 yards as a team. The Cougars won their first game last week with a 29-14 decision over winless East Hampton/Vinal Tech at Palmer Field but H-K has also struggled to score points this fall. It is the first of three games in four weeks for Mills at Muzzy Field. Series: Began 2010. H-K leads, 2-0
