PLYMOUTH, Dec. 11 – Sophomore Maggie Treacy sank three 3-point goals and had a game-high 13 points as the Canton High girls basketball team won its season opening contest with a 56-37 victory in a non-conference game over host Terryville on Wednesday night.
Gabby Rose added 12 points for the Warriors (1-0) while senior guard Erin Detorie had 10 points and a pair of three-point goals. It was the first victory for Canton’s first-year coach Brian Medeiros.
Canton played solid defense, limiting the Kangaroos (0-1) to just five points in the first quarter and eight points in the third quarter to take control of the contest. Olivia Pilarski and Baily Doran each led Terryville with 10 points each.
