LINCOLN, Neb., March 14 – Canton’s Michael LeDuc, a senior at Connecticut College, earned All-American honors in two events this weekend at the NCAA Division III indoor track and field championships.

On Saturday night, LeDuc set a new Connecticut College school record by taking fourth in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Division III nationals in 8:15.43 at Nebraska-Weslyan University. He broke his own school record that he set on February 22 by 4.05 seconds.

On Friday night, LeDuc finished seventh in the 5,000 meters in 14:23.92. The top eight finishers earn NCAA All-American status. This is now the eighth time that LeDuc has earned All-American honors in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

“It was a very, very good race for Mike today,” said Ned Bishop, Connecticut College’s head track and field coach. “He made all the right moves. He ran the race exactly according to plan. He’s very happy and we’re very proud of him.”

Connecticut College finished in a 32nd place tie with York College of Pennsylvania.

LeDuc has earned All-American status in the 3,000 steeplechase three times, including winning the NCAA Division III title last spring. He finished third at the NCAA Division III indoor track championship meet in the 5,000 meters in February 2013. He won the NCAA Division III national champion in cross country in November and was 13th at the NCAA Division III cross country championship meet in 2012. The top 15 in cross country earn All-American status.

LeDuc graduated from Canton in 2010 where he was an All-State athlete in cross country and track and field.
