U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, U.S. Representative Elizabeth Esty and Gov. Dannel Malloy were in Collinsville Tuesday to announce that President Barack Obama has officially signed the Collinsville Renewable Energy Promotion Act into law. That will grant the town of Canton permits to operate a hydroelectric generation facility at dams on the Farmington River in Collinsville and Avon to generate electricity. The town still needs to get permission from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) but it is now possible. See more on this story and photos from the Canton Compass.
