CANTON, Sept. 14, 2014 — Craig DeAngelis is the new athletic coordinator at Canton High School. He will also be coordinating athletics for Canton Middle School. DeAngelis, a graduate of Central Connecticut State, is a native of Fairfield. He began working here in Canton in August.
DeAngelis also has degrees from Liberty University and Southern Connecticut State University.
He played football at Central Connecticut State for three years from 2003-05. In 2004, the Blue Devils won the Northeast Conference championship. After graduation, he has worked as a coach at Fairfield Ludlowe, Pomperaug, Wilton and Jonathan Law in football, indoor track, outdoor track and lacrosse.
Along with his athletic coordinator responsibilities, DeAngelis will also be teaching physical education and health at Canton.
DeAngelis replaces Dee Stephan, who served as athletic director from December 2011 through June 2013. Before Stephan, John Bement was an athletic coordinator for a little over a year from September 2010 though September 2011. He resigned in mid-September to take an out-of-state position. Canton had an interim athletic coordinator until Stephan was hired. Bement succeeded Nancy Grace, who was athletic director for five years from 2005-10.
