Avon Old Farms falls in NEPSAC bowl game

WALLINGFORD, Nov. 15 – Playing in its second New England Prep School Athletic Association (NEPSAC) Bowl game in two years, Avon Old Farms ran into a formidable Choate School football team Saturday. Jamal Williams ran for 150 yards and three touchdowns while QB John Fadule completed 13 of 19 passes for 238 yards to lead undefeated Choate to a convincing 49-20 victory over AOF in the Bill Glennon Bowl.

Choate finishes the season at 10-0 and captured its first NEPSAC bowl championship since 1993. Avon Old Farms, which won the Erickson League championship for the second straight year, finishes the year at 6-3.

Khayri Hudeen ran for two touchdowns for the Winged Beavers while Ben Johnston caught a five-yard touchdown pass from QB Jalen Ollie.

Avon Old Farms (6-3, 5-1 Erickson) won the Erickson League title a week ago with a thrilling 45-41 win over Salisbury under the lights in Avon as Elijah Hands scored his sixth touchdown of the game with 30 seconds remaining. The Winged Beavers and Brunswick School in Greenwich finished tied for first place but AOF brought home the title thanks to their 49-24 win over Brunswick in week two.

A year ago, AOF fell to Suffield Academy, 50-42 in the Arthur Valicenti Bowl. The game was AOF’s first appearance in a NEPSAC Bowl game since 1955.
