Avon High athletes earn All-State and All-NCCC recognition

CP canterbury a, graphicAVON – Five Avon High athletes earned All-State honors this spring for their accomplishments on the field. Senior Hannah Davey, who scored a single-season record 103 goals with 20 assists this season in girls lacrosse, earned All-State honors along with teammate Sammy Maniatty, who scored 48 goals and 15 assists.

Eric Selzer and Alex Herz helped Avon win a NCCC championship and finish second in Class M. They also earned All-State honors along with golfer Tyler Hahn.

In its final season in the North Central Connecticut Conference, Avon won the league championship in boys tennis (17-2, 16-0 NCCC) and girls track and field (14-0). The girls track team has won 45 straight dual meets dating back to 2012. The boys tennis team has won 85 consecutive NCCC meets dating back to 2010.

The Falcons also captured the NCCC Tournament in baseball and in boys golf.

The following Avon High athletes earned All-Conference honors.

  • Girls track and field: Molly Hamel, Kaely Quijano, Carly Regalado, Carly Carpino, Emma Schweitzer, Tara Shayler, Shilpa Donde, Chamiyah Rowland, Karina Bucci, Jennifer Koo
  • Boys golf: Jake Avery, Tyler Hahn
