
UConn sophomore Kia Nurse had an excellent summer, winning two gold medals with the Canadian national team.
STORRS – The opening of training camp for the three-time NCAA champion University of Connecticut women’s basketball team is just a few weeks away but sophomore guard Kia Nurse is brimming with confidence already.
She helped Canada win its first women’s basketball gold medal in the Pan American games in Toronto in an 81-73 win over the United States. Nurse had a game-high 33 points. She also helped Canada earn a spot in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio with an 82-66 win over Cuba in the gold medal game of the FIBA Americas Championship for Women in August. In that win, she had 20 points, three rebounds and three assists.
