SOMERS, Oct. 13 – For the second time this season, Grace Giancola scored a hat trick. The junior forward had three goals and two assists as the Canton High field hockey team dominated Somers, 6-1 on Tuesday.
Giancola, who had three goals against Somers on Sept. 24, has scored a team-leading 11 goals in 10 games for the Warriors.
Elizabeth Raynor, Erika Nedderman and Jessica Rogowski also scored goals for Canton (7-1-2, 6-1-1 NCCC). Sarah First, Hannah Bonini and Megan Gagne picked up assists for the Warriors. Goalie Natalie Nardello made two saves in net to pick up the victory.
Alex Gershowitz mades 20 saves in goal for Somers (0-9-1-1). Erin Anthony scored off a pass from Megan Gagne for the host Spartans.
Canton travels to No. 7 Granby (9-1-1) on Thursday for a 3:45 p.m. game on the road. Enfield (7-2-1) surprised Granby on Tuesday by battling to a 1-1 tie with the Bears. Canton’s next home game is Saturday morning at 11 a.m. when the Warriors host Haddam-Killingworth.
