
Abby Laszewski had a game-high 23 kills in Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Bristol Eastern in the Class L quarterfinals.
BRISTOL, Nov. 14 – There will be no strangers among the four teams in the semifinals of the Class L tournament. All four teams are members of the Central Connecticut Conference.
No. 6 Bristol Eastern earned its ticket to the semifinals with a dominant 3-0 win No. 14 Avon Saturday, beating the Falcons, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-23 in the quarterfinals. Eastern (18-3) will face No. 7 Platt High (22-3), the surprise winner of the CCC Tournament. The Panthers were the No. 6 seed in the CCC Tournament and beat the top three seeds – Farmington (3), Southington (2) and RHAM (1) — to win the league tournament.
Top-seeded RHAM and No. 5 Farmington are in the other semifinal.
Eastern took control from the start although the Falcons (17-8) made it tough for the Lancers in game three. Senior Abby Laszewski led Avon with a team-high 23 kills while senior setter Brooke Fisher had 27 assists. Della Hellwig and Maddie Hart had six digs each.
Eastern had a more diverse attack led by Megan Gettings and Angela Daley with 14 kills each. Setter Jessica Kennedy had 33 assists.
