
Avon’s Max Gorack (8) gave the Falcons a lead they would never relinquish in Tuesday’s 2-1 Class L tournament win over Bristol Eastern.
AVON, Nov. 10 – Playing in steady rain at Fisher Meadows, the No. 14 Avon High boys soccer team couldn’t get away from pesky Bristol Eastern. But with 28 seconds left in the first half, Max Gorack scored to put the Falcons ahead. Kobe Barnes extended the lead with his seventh goal of the season early in the second as Avon eliminated the No. 19 Bristol Eastern with a 2-1 decision in the first round of the Class L tournament.
Now, Avon (13-6) will challenge No. 3 University High/Prince Tech co-op team out of Hartford on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the school’s athletic fields at 351 Mark Twain Drive in a second round contest. The Hawks won their first 14 games of the year with 10 shutouts before a 2-2 season-ending tie to Abbott Tech and a stunning 2-0 loss to Bassick in the quarterfinals of the Constitution State Conference tournament.
