CANTON, Nov. 10 – The Canton High boys soccer team finished the regular season with six wins in its last seven games. The Warriors continued to play well Tuesday in the first round of the Class S tournament. Five players scored goals to lead No. 6 Canton to a 5-1 victory over No. 27 Holy Cross-Waterbury at the turf field.
Colin Madigan, Jesse Waite, John Graziano, Santiago Nortiega and Rieley Hoffman scored goals for the Warriors. Madigan and Graziano scored on headers into the net. Madigan had two assists while Graziano had one. Goalies Josh Frigo and D.J. Clement combined to make seven saves in the victory.
Canton (12-4-1) will host No. 11 seed Griswold (10-4-3) on Thursday at 2 p.m. on the turf field. The Wolverines eliminated Parish Hill, 3-0, on Tuesday.
