Avon senior Jack Keenan, right, shown earlier this week against University/Prince Tech, had two goals in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Guilford.

GUILFORD, Nov. 14 – When Avon High boys soccer coach David Zlatin tweaked his starting lineup in early October, he moved Jack Keenan to forward and the senior responded with goals in eight of the next nine games. The Falcons won seven of the nine games to win the CCC Central White division.

Keenan got his first goals of the postseason Saturday to help the defending state champion Falcons earn a spot in the Class L semifinals with a 2-0 win over Guilford in windy conditions. No. 14 Avon (15-6) will face No. 2 Hand-Madison (17-0-1) on Wednesday at a location to be announced. Keenan, who has a team-leading 17 goals, had both goals. Goalie Dan Magrini made five stops in goal to earn the shutout. It’s Avon’s fourth semifinal appearance in the last five years.
