DEEP RIVER, Nov. 13 – Canton senior Azon Click caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Alex Higley but the Warriors fell to 0-9 with a 62-22 Pequot Conference loss to defending Class S Large state champion Valley Regional/Old Lyme Friday night at Blythe Field.

Click scored on a 71-yard touchdown reception from Higley in the first quarter – the longest scoring play of the season for Canton. It was also the third longest touchdown pass in school history. Click also scored in the second quarter on a 11-yard touchdown reception from Higley.

Matt Bangs added a 46-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter – the longest touchdown run of the season for the Warriors. Higley completed 7-of-20 passes for a career-high 160 yards. Freshman Jack Szcepanski had two sacks and two tackles for a loss.

Valley Regional/Old Lyme (5-4) enjoyed Senior Night as Dan Stecher ran for 171 yards on nine carries. He scored five touchdowns, including one on a 37-yard punt return. Valley QB Matt Sapere completed 8-of-11 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Valley kicker Jared Roche broke his own school record by converting on eight extra point attempts in a single game.

Valley’s 62 points were the most points allowed in a single game in Canton football history. It breaks the mark of 58 points allowed in a 58-0 loss to Gilbert in 1953.

Canton will conclude the 2015 campaign on Thanksgiving Eve when they will travel to Granby to take on the Pequot Conference champion Bears (9-0) at 6:30 p.m.
