The athletes competed in singles, doubles and mixed doubles in a team format.
Team New England defeated Guzman Champs from Southern California, 42-41 to finish 13th. Team New England also beat another New England squad from Suppican Tennis Club, 46-39 in the tournament.
Selzer and teammate Greta Hartman from Glastonbury each were recognized with an 18 and-under intermediate sportsmanship award.
The national championship tournaent serves as the crown jewel of USTA Junior team tennis as the nation’s top teams compete for the title. Each year, the USTA crowns a national champion in two age divisions (14U and 18U) in both the intermediate and advanced play divisions. Thirty-two teams from around the county participated.
