Canton’s Amanda Gottlieb has signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse at the University of New Hampshire. The Wildcats, a Division I squad, went 6-10 a year ago and 2-4 in America East.
Gottlieb has been an All-State and All-NCCC goalie at Canton, where she has been the starter in net for the past three seasons. Last spring, Canton set a school record for most wins in a season, going 10-9 before being eliminated in the Class S quarterfinals by finalist Old Saybrook, 14-7.
Gottlieb had several big games last spring. She made 16 saves in a 9-4 win over Newington, had 10 stops in Canton’s first-ever win over Avon, 10-9 and made 11 saves in net as Canton also beat Granby for the first time ever, 12-11. She earned All-NCCC honors.
Last spring, she was the No. 1 goalie selected to play for Lower New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts) regional team that participates in the U.S. Lacrosse women’s division national tournament.
Gottlieb earned All-State honors for her play in her sophomore season when the Warriors finished 7-9 and qualified for the CIAC tournament for the first time.
Gottlieb also played soccer at Canton, where she played goalie for the Warriors. Canton went 3-8-3 this fall.
