Avon’s Teddy Allmendinger (34) ran for more than 1,600 yards and 15 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Falcons.
AVON – Avon High senior linebacker Teddy Allmendinger has been named to the Walter Camp Foundation’s All-Connecticut football team. Since 2009, the foundation has named a 22-man team honoring the best high school football players in the state.
With his punishing and hard-hitting play, Allmendinger helped Avon finish 8-2 this season and capture the CCC Division III Eastern Division championship in its first year in the Central Connecticut Conference. The Falcons fell one win shy of qualifying for the Class L playoffs but they did win the inaugural Valley Gridiron Classic with a 55-26 win over SImsbury.
As a junior, he ran for a team-high 1,278 yards and 13 TDs as a running back for the Falcons but coach Jim Caouette asked Allmendinger to modify his role this season. He became more of a blocking back on offense and saw his offensive role reduced so he could focus on his defensive play. Allmendinger had a team-leading 145 tackles. Offensively, he ran for 382 yards and two TDs, including a season-high 93 yards in the win over Simsbury. Allmendinger also caught a career-high nine passes for 152 yards and two TDs.

Avon linebacker Teddy Allmendinger (34) has Plainville running back Corey McKisson (4) off his feet while tackling him. Allmendinger had four tackles for a loss against the Blue Devils.
“He’s probably the best linebacker I’ve ever coached in my career,” Avon High coach Jim Caouette said. “He’ll do some good things in college.” Caouette said that Allmendiner hopes to play at UConn.
He is the second Avon player to make the Walter Camp Foundation’s All-Connecticut team. Lineman Ryan Rogers made the All-Connecticut team following the 2014 campaign.
This season, Allmendinger also earned All-CCC Division III East honors and Class L All-State honors from the Connecticut High School Coaches Association.
