AVON — Avon’s Board of Education endorsed the idea at its meeting last Wednesday (Feb. 17) of building a new sports complex at Avon High School that would include a synthetic turf field and new track and field facility. But the endorsement is conditional based on resolution of several issues, including the impact of lights and noise on the surrounding neighbor and potential health issues from using crumb rubber (recycled tires and rubber) as fill for the turf field.
The Avon Town Council will resume its discussion of the proposal at its next scheduled meeting on Thursday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m., at Town Hall. Read more in this story from the Courant.
