BRIDGEPORT, March 26 – You hear about the complaints about the domination of opponents by the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team. “There is brilliance in this beauty. There is history in this brilliance,” writes Rick Wilson for Litchfield County Sports.com. The Huskies throttled Mississippi State, the No. 15 team in the nation, Saturday morning at Harbor Bank Arena, 98-38. The 60-point margin of victory was a NCAA tournament record.
“It’s one of those days that you just feel it’s special,” UConn coach Geno Auriemma told Rich Elliott of Litchfield County Sports. “This isn’t the way that basketball normally goes. But every once in a while you catch that kind of wave, and the next thing you know it just crashes down on the other team and it just keeps going and going and going.’’
The Huskies, who have won 72 games in a row, advance to the regional championship game for the 11th straight season and will face Texas on Monday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
