ELLINGTON, April 11 – Eddie Melton and Brett Daubert had three goals each but the Ellington boys lacrosse team handed Canton a 17-11 loss in NCCC play on Monday.

The Warriors had won two of their previous three games entering play on Monday. Last week, Canton outlasted St. Paul for their first victory of the season, 16-10. And on Saturday, the Warriors beat Newington, 10-6 for their second victory thanks to a strong defensive effort. Canton goalie Donny Zeffiro played well in the net.

On Monday, the game was close early but the Purple Knights (3-1) scored six unanswered goals to snap a 4-4 tie and extend its lead to 10-4. Early in the third period, Jake Whittingslow scored on an assist from Brett Daubert to cut the lead to three, 10-7.

But Ellington scored seven of the next eight goals to secure the victory.
