Falcons nip Simsbury to win Avon Invitational for first time

Golf ballAVON, April 30 – The Avon High boys golf team won the third annual Avon Invitational golf tournament for the first time Friday with a one stroke win over Simsbury, 300 to 301 at Blue Fox Run golf course. Avon’s Jake Avery was the tournament medalist with an even par 70.

Berlin was third with 306 in the 18-hole event while Suffield took fourth place (309) in the 15-team event. The Falcons are off to a 5-0 start in their first season in the Central Connecticut Conference including a 1-0 start in the CCC Central White division.
