GRANBY, April 25 – It’s been a challenging year for the Canton High girls softball team. The Warriors are still learning to hit and don’t have the dominant pitching they’ve had in previous years.
On Monday, Canton had just four hits in a 7-0 loss to Granby. The Warriors (0-8, 0-7 NCCC) have had four or fewer hits in six of eight games. Three times, they’ve had just one hit.

Against Granby, four Canton players had hits. Emma Plourd had a double while Megan Hall, Alexa Szczepanski and Anna Shine each had singles. Samantha Anderson took the loss on the mound for Canton.
Granby (7-1) was led by pitcher Shelby Smith, who had 12 strikeouts and limited the Warriors to just four hits. Jessica Storch was 4-for-4 with two double and three RBI for the Bears.
A busy week continues on Tuesday when Canton travels to Bolton. The Warriors travel to Coventry on Wednesday and host Stafford on Thursday.
