Quick start lifts Bunnell past Canton boys lacrosse team

STRATFORD, April 9 – The Bunnell High boys lacrosse team scored six goals in the first eight minutes of the game to race out to a big lead and remain undefeated with a 20-7 win over Canton Saturday. Bunnell’s Corey Auten had two goals and assist while Matthew Paternostro had two goals as Bunnell raced out to an early 6-1 lead. The Bulldogs scored the first give goals of the game.

Auten finished with a game-high seven goals and four assists to lead undefeated Bunnell (3-0) while Pasternosto had four goals and an assist.

Canton (0-4), which had a season-high eight goals in a tight one-goal loss to Granby on Friday, 9-8, was led by Matt Walzak and Chris Giancola with two goals each. Giancola also had one assist for the Warriors. Canton goalies Donald Zeffiro (six saves) and Chris Branez (3 saves) combined to stop nine Bunnell shots.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday when they host St. Paul (1-1) in a non-league contest at 2 p.m. on the turf field.
