WINSTED, May 10 – In the last two days, the Canton High girls softball team has rapped out 30 hits. The Warriors had 16 hits in an eight-run victory on Monday over Sport Medicine Science Academy to earn their first win of the season after 12 straight defeats.
On Tuesday, Canton ripped 14 hits to earn their second straight victory with a 14-6 decision over Gilbert in a non-league contest at Rowley Field. Winning pitcher Erika Nedderman struck out seven on the mound and at the plate, she was 4-for-5 with three RBI.
Megan Hall (2-3, 4 RBI), Bailey Edgren (2-5, 2 RBI) and Emma Plourd (2-4, 1 RBI) each had two hits for Canton, now 2-12 on the year. The Warriors also took advantage of 15 walks from Gilbert pitcher Anna King, who gave up 14 hits and fanned four.

Canton remains on the road with a third straight game on Wednesday when they travel to Windsor Locks for a 3:45 p.m. start. The busy week concludes Thursday at Ellington for a 4:45 p.m. start.
