AVON, May 9 – First baseman Sean DelGallo was 3-for-4 with a home run to help the Avon High baseball team capture their fifth straight game with a 7-0 shutout over Fermi-Enfield in a Central Connecticut Conference game at Buckingham Field Monday.
Avon (9-3) had seven hits and took advantage of six wild pitches from Fermi pitcher Leyden Brousseau. Avon’s first two runs in the first inning scored on a pair of wild pitches. Avon’s Ian McDonald was 2-for-4 with a RBI single in the second inning while Chris Jacobs added a RBI double in the third inning for the Falcons.
Connor Harris (2-1) earned the win on the mound for the Falcons, who were the first team this season to hold Fermi to no runs. Avon returns to the field on Tuesday with a game at Bristol Central, followed by another road game on Wednesday at Windsor. The Falcons host Hall on Friday.
