SIMSBURY, May 16 – Simsbury’s Natalie Dupree had five goals while teammate Regan Sebott had four to lead the Simsbury High girls lacrosse team to a 15-9 victory over Canton Monday night under the lights at Simsbury High School. Kat Clinton and Molly Rosenberg had two goals each for the Trojans, who improve to 7-7 on the season.
Grace Giancola had three goals for the Warriors (12-3) while Emma Charron and Kaelyn Oliver had two each. Anna Holland and Devon Daubert had one each for Canton. Goalie Amanda Gottlieb made six saves in net for Canton while Simsbury goalie Emily Franklin made 11 saves for the Trojans.
Simsbury got off to a strong start with a 5-1 surge at the beginning of the game. Goals from Oliver, Giancola and Daubert cut the lead to two, 6-4 with 10:32 left in the first half. But Canton wasn’t able to get another goal before halftime and trailed 8-4 at the break.
In the second half, two goals from Giancola and a score from Holland cut the SImsbury lead to two 9-7 with 17:10 remaining. But Simsbury scored five unanswered goals to take command of the contest with a 14-7 lead with 17:59 remaining. Charron had four assists to go with her two goals while Gianacola and Daubert also had assists for Canton.
Canton closes out the regular season by hosting Watertown on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. on the turf field.

Coventry 11, Canton 6
CANTON, May 16 – Emma Plourd had two home runs and drove in five runs but it wasn’t enough in a 11-6 NCCC loss to Coventry Monday. The Warriors (2-15, 1-14 NCCC) committed nine errors and gave up eight unearned runs.
Plourd had a two-run home run in the fifth inning and belted a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Alexa Szczepanski was 3-for-4 with a double while outfielder Megan Hall had a triple for Canton, which had 11 hits in the game. Coventry pitcher Caitlyn McDonagh scattered 11 hits and struck out nine Canton batters.
