HARTFORD, April 27 – The Canton High girls basketball visited Gov. Dannel Malloy last week where the governor met with the team and recognized the Class S state championship that the Warriors captured in March.
State Representative Tim LeGeyt (R-Canton) arranged for the team to visit the capital and meet with Gov. Malloy. LeGeyt also introduced the state championship squad in the House of Representatives to fellow legislators, staff and guests that gave the Warriors a warm welcome.
Canton won their first-ever state championship in girls basketball with a 64-51 win over two-time defending champion Thomaston on March 18 at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
“It was an honor to host the Canton High girls basketball team and congratulate them on their big win,” LeGeyt said. “Canton is very proud of these ladies.”
