Avon’s Madison Kennedy begins competition in the U.S. Olympic swimming trials Thursday morning in Omaha, Nebraska, when she swims in the 100 meter freestyle preliminaries. Competition begins at 11 a.m. The top 16 swimmers advance to Thursday night’s semifinals, which will be the second event of the evening session that begins at 7 p.m. The 100 free finals will be Friday night.

Kennedy is ranked No. 13 in the 100 free. The top six swimmers in the 100 free will earn berths on the U.S. Olympic team. Fans can watch the preliminaries live at U.S. Swimming.com or a taped delay version on NBCSN at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night’s evening session will be on NBC beginning at 8 p.m.
