Undefeated Avon Legion raps out season-high 16 hits in big win over Winsted

WINSTED, June 15 – Andrew LeDuc was 3-for-3 with three RBI while Kyle Emery was 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI to lead the Avon American Legion baseball team to a 13-5 Zone 1 victory over Winsted at Walker Field on Wednesday.

Avon (5-0, 5-0 Zone 1) had a season-high 16 hits. Brady Williamson was 3-for-5 with two RBI while Chris Jacobs had a single, triple and two RBI. Jeremy Zarwanski added two hits for Post 201.

Jacobs earned the victory on the mound with three innings of strong work, allowing one run and three hits.

Winsted (0-5) was led by Devin Warren, who was 3-for-4. John King had a double for Post 43.

Avon returns to the diamond on Sunday for a doubleheader at Wolcott beginning at 11 a.m. Post 201 returns home when they host Simsbury on Tuesday, June 21, at 5:45 p.m. at Buckingham Field. Avon (5-0), Bristol (4-0) and Wolcott (3-0) are the only Zone 1 teams left without a loss in the league.

SIMSBURY, June 15 – Canton native Peter Myers pitched five innings and gave up four runs as Bristol beat Simsbury, 4-0 in a Zone 1 game at Memorial Field. Bristol’s Noah Cruz went the distance for Post 2 and gave up just one hit. Myers slips to 1-1 on the year.

Simsbury hosts Wolcott Thursday night at Memorial Field at 5:30 p.m. and Southington on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
