WINSTED, July 6 – Andrew LeDuc was 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and three RBI while Sean Del Gallo extended his team-leading hitting streak to 15 consecutive games as the Avon American Legion baseball team dominated Winsted with a 9-1 victory Wednesday night at Walker Field.

Avon (14-4, 14-4 Zone 1) earned their fourth straight win and the fifth victory in the last six games. Avon maintained its Zone 1 lead over Bristol (12-4) and Simsbury (12-6).

With 10 hits and seven runs in the first two innings, Avon took command early and beat Winsted for the 13th straight time dating back to 2012.

Avon took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles from Jeremy Zarwanski and LeDuc. Post 201 extended the lead to 7-0 in the second inning. Avon loaded the bases and then Justin Olson drew a walk, driving in a run for a three-run lead.

Zarwanski, 2-for-4, two RBI, had a RBI single to center field, followed by a two-RBI double to center field by LeDuc for a six-run lead. A sacrifice fly from Kyle Emery swelled the lead to 7-0.

On the mound, Emery and Del Gallo allowed just three hits and walked just two batters. Emery (4-1) pitched five innings to pick up his third win of the summer. Del Gallo was 3-for-3 at the plate for Avon while Jake Coppen hit a double. Emery was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Post 201 returns to the diamond on Thursday night when they host Torrington (3-16) at 5:30 p.m. at Buckingham Field.
