Avon boys put on a spirited performance in loss to No. 4 Weaver

Avon’s Jordan Williams had a game-high 25 points in Tuesday night’s game against Weaver.

AVON, Jan. 3 – The Avon High boys basketball kicked off Winter Spirit Week with a spirited performance against No. 4 Weaver High. The Falcons trailed by just two at halftime and the Beaver lead was just five after three periods.

But Weaver (6-1) was too strong in the fourth quarter, scoring 33 points to pull away and earn a 82-66 CCC Central White victory over Avon on Tuesday night.

Weaver’s Alex Rodriguez scored 21 points on seven 3-point goals. Jaecee Martin had 19 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists and nine steals while Jaquan Williams scored 16 points and had five blocks for the winners.

Avon (2-3) was led by Jordan Williams with a game-high 25 points while Charlie Reiss added 15 points.

The Falcons travel to Simsbury (3-2) on Thursday night to face the Trojans at 7 p.m.
