GRANBY, Jan. 3 – Emily Briggs had 12 of her game-high 25 points in the third quarter as the Canton High girls basketball team won their second straight game with a 48-28 decision over Granby in North Central Connecticut Conference play on Tuesday night.
Abby Charron had 12 for the Warriors (4-2, 3-2 NCCC) while Abbe Skinner added five points. Charron had six of her 12 points in the first quarter as Canton raced out to an early 10-2 advantage.
But Granby (3-3, 2-2 NCCC) remained tough and the Bears took a two-point lead on Sam Stahl’s three-point shot with 1:25 remaining in the second quarter. Thanks to a Madeline McGee three-point shot with 29 seconds left in the first half, Granby had a 23-20 lead at halftime.

Granby had a two-point lead, 24-22, before Canton closed out the third quarter with an 18-6 surge to take a commanding 40-30 lead. Skinner tied the game with a jumper with 6:24 left before Briggs scored 12 of Canton’s next 18 points.
Canton returns to the court on Friday evening at 7 p.m. when the Warriors take on Tolland in the consolation game of the Canton Holiday Classic. The original game was postponed due to weather conditions on Dec. 28. Hall beat Suffield, 54-40 in the championship game that was held as scheduled.
