CANTON – A week ago, the Canton High boys basketball team got off to a poor start in their 13-point loss to Avon. The Falcons raced out to a 14-0 lead and led 21-3 after eight minutes.
It was Canton’s first loss of the season after winning their first three games.
The Warriors seem to have learned their lesson. They won two straight games, getting off to a strong start in a win over Granby and used a strong finish to beat Somers on Monday night.
Last Friday against Granby, Canton led 13-2 after one quarter and 26-5 at halftime as the Warriors rolled to a 65-35 victory. It was the most lopsided win over Granby since winning by 32 points in 1985.
On Monday night, Canton (5-1, 4-0 NCCC) beat Somers in a hard-fought contest, 62-60 in Canton to remain undefeated in the NCCC. The Warriors didn’t get the early lead but they didn’t let the Spartans get too far away.

Canton returns to action on Wednesday when they host Coventry at 7 p.m.
