Five Canton pitchers combined to allow just two hits, fan 11 in victory

CANTON, May 9 – Five Canton pitchers combined to limit the University High/Hartford Classical co-op baseball team to two hits on Tuesday as the Warriors earned their second straight win with a 10-3 non-league decision at Bowdoin Field.

The five hurlers – James Mattson, Ryan Scafuri, Nate Fulham, Sam Beadle and Michael Sullivan – combined to strike out 11 batters. Mattson led the way with five strikeouts.

Beadle was 2-for-3 with a RBI double in the sixth inning and three stolen bases. After doubling in the sixth inning, Beadle stole third base and then stole home for another Canton run. Ryan Enns was 2-for-4 with a RBI double in the first inning. Ethan Burke was 2-for-3 for Canton.

The Warriors continue their busy week – four games in four days. Canton beat Windsor Locks on Monday, 2-1, despite not getting a single hit. On Wednesday, the Warriors travel to Ellington and on Thursday, Canton will hit the road for a non-league game at Litchfield.
