LEBANON, May 31 – No. 2 Lyman Memorial took advantage of a two-out rally in the bottom of the fifth inning to score five runs and eliminate the Canton High baseball team from the Class S tournament Wednesday with a 5-1 decision.
The game was scoreless into the fifth inning. Canton starter Tim Keating (2-3) got into trouble in the fifth. A single and two walks loaded the bases for Lyman Memorial. Keating got Lyman’s Kory Lazur to ground the ball to shortstop James Mattson, who threw home for the second out of the inning.
But Keating gave up three consecutive doubles to Colton Bender, Brendan Wood and Wyatt Sihvonen as the Bulldogs built up a 5-0 lead. Bender had a three-run double to left field while Wood and Sihvonen had RBI doubles.
Canton (12-10) put a run on the board in the seventh inning. Sam Beadle led off the inning with a double and moved to third base when Ethan Burke grounded out to second base. Beadle scored on passed ball to cut the lead to 5-1.

Bender, Sihvonen and Patrick Quesly each had two hits for the Bulldogs (20-2), who advanced to Saturday’s Class S quarterfinal game against No. 7 Old Lyme.
