Avon’s Hahn can’t build on first round lead at Connecticut PGA Junior Championship

NEW HAVEN, June 28 – It was a tale of two different rounds of golf for Avon High’s All-New England golfer Tyler Hahn at the 42nd annual Connecticut PGA Junior Championship tournament at Yale Golf Course.

On Tuesday, Hahn was on a roll with five birdies and a pair of bogeys to lead the field with an opening round two-under-par 68. He was the only golfer to shoot under par in the first round.

Things didn’t go so well on Wednesday for Hahn, who had six bogeys and a pair of double bogeys with a second round score of 83 to finish tied for 23rd with a 151. Hahn finished nine shots off the winning pace set by Suffield’s Austin Rupp, who won with a 142 (72-70) in a playoff over Jonathan Elkins of South Deerfield, Mass.
