MANCHESTER, July 18 –  Autumn Serruta of the Golf Club of Avon has a three-stroke lead going into the third and final round of the 52nd annual Connecticut Women’s Amateur Golf Championship on Wednesday.

Serruta shot a two-over-par 74 in the second round for a two-round total of 150 at the Manchester Country Club, three strokes better than Jen Holland of Lyman Orchards (78-75, 153) and six shots ahead of Sarah Houle of Rock Ridge Country Club (77-79, 156). Houle won the CIAC girls golf title in June playing for Newtown High. Holland won the 2008 state amateur title.

Serruta, a former golfer for Avon High and Mount St. Mary, had one birdie and just three bogeys on Tuesday. Her 74 is her best round in her last three appearances in the state amateur championship event.

“Today, I tried to keep with my game plan of getting the ball in the fairway and hitting the greens in regulation,” Serruta said. “I putted really well today and made a few crazy par putts that really helped. I managed to avoid making any double bogies which cost me a few shots yesterday.”

Serruta shot a 76 in the first round with a pair of double bogies on the back nine.

Serrutta finished 11th in the state amateur in 2015 with a three day total of 244 (82-84-78) and tied for 20th in 2014 with a 253 (84-84-85). She didn’t play in last year’s tournament.

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m., with the leaders beginning play at 9:10 a.m. Live scoring and results will be available online at CTWomensAmateur.com.
