Kourtros fans six to lead Wolcott past Crushers and into Tri-State League playoffs

CANTON, July 22 – Pitcher Justin Koutros struck out six and allowed just three earned runs as the Wolcott Scrappers earned the 12th and final spot in the Tri-State League playoffs with a 14-5 win over the Canton Crushers Saturday at Bowdoin Field.

Ryan Soucy had five hits including a pair of doubles for Wolcott (9-10). He scored twice and drove in a run. Teammate Clete Lorusso had three hits including a two-RBI triple while Eric Soucy, Ryan Andrade and Mikey Grasso each had two hits for the Scrappers.

It was the second time in five days that Koutros earned a complete-game victory. The game was the regular season finale for both squads. 

Canton finished their fourth season in the Tri-State League with a record of 5-14  — matching their win total from season three (5-13).
